Conflict of Interest Policy

Editorial decisions must not be hiddenly influenced by personal, financial or organizational interests.

Purpose

Editorial decisions must not be hiddenly influenced by personal, financial or organizational interests.

Required practice

Editors and reviewers disclose relevant employment, funding, advisory roles, close relationships, gifts and advocacy commitments. A person with a material conflict is recused from final review; the reassignment and disclosure are recorded.

Accountability

Funding or cooperation does not buy editorial approval. Relevant conflicts are disclosed with the content; absence of a known conflict is not presented as proof of neutrality.
